Power Network is an early prototype that laid the foundation for the full Power Network Tycoon game. This project focused on creating accurate thermal simulation for high-voltage transmission lines based on detailed electrical physics calculations.
The simulation models the thermal behavior of overhead transmission lines using fundamental electrical physics principles. The program calculates conductor temperature rise based on key factors including:
- Conductor material and cross-sectional area
- Ambient air temperature and wind speed
- Solar radiation effects
- Current magnitude and duration
- Thermal resistance of conductor and insulators
This prototype tested basic thermal modeling features before expanding into the comprehensive power grid simulation that became Power Network Tycoon, demonstrating the core physics calculations essential for realistic power engineering simulation.
